LGBTQ+ Study Abroad Scholarships
Up to $20,000. No loans. No repayment. Just the experience.
We are actively building the scholarship fund before our first awards in 2027. Applications are open now so you're first in line. We review every application personally — no algorithm, no automated rejections.
How it works
From application to departure.
Apply
Submit your application with proof of enrollment and program details. We review every one personally.
Interview
Finalists have a conversation with our team. We want to know you, not grade you.
Get funded
Awards cover program fees, flights, housing, and living expenses, up to $20,000. No loans. No repayment.
Study abroad
You go. We connect you with a cohort of LGBTQ+ students before you land so you're never navigating alone.
Share your story
When you're back, your experience helps us raise the next scholarship. Your journey funds the next student's flight.

Awards per cycle
We plan to fund 2-5 scholars in our inaugural cohort (2027), scaling as fundraising grows. Award count depends on funds raised and applicant need.
Award amounts
Up to $20,000 per student. Awards are need-based; not every recipient receives the maximum. We fund what the gap actually is.
Selection criteria
Financial need (40%), program fit and academic standing (30%), personal statement and identity factors (20%), and interview (10%). No single factor is disqualifying.
Timeline
Applications open: Fall 2026. Deadline: January 15, 2027. Review period: 6-8 weeks. Finalist interviews: March 2027. Awards announced: April 2027. Funds disbursed: before program start. Programs longer than one semester require periodic check-ins with WWP staff.
These figures reflect our current plan. As a founding-stage organization, we may adjust award counts and timelines based on fundraising outcomes. We will communicate any changes directly to applicants.
Self-identify as LGBTQ+ (broadly defined; you know if this is you)
Enrolled at an accredited U.S. college, university, or trade school
Demonstrate financial need. We're looking for students for whom this money is the difference
Have an accepted or planned international program (official study-abroad, independent study, or trade program, minimum one week, up to one year)
Maintained a minimum 2.5 GPA. We care about effort, not perfection
U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen (DACA and undocumented students are encouraged to apply; immigration status does not disqualify you)
We recognize that financial barriers to study abroad are compounded by race, disability, first-generation status, and other systemic factors. Our review process considers the full context of each applicant's circumstances. You don't need to fit a single profile to belong here.
